What is a composite? It's when one picture is added to another picture to form one picture. For example, in the above composition each of the athletes was shot separately from the background in a studio setting. This gives the photographer far more control over certain aspects of the composition like lighting and depth of field. It is designed to provide a somewhat surreal aspect to the picture. A person looks at it and says, "It looks so real and yet there's something about it that transcends reality (in a positive, creative way)."

This particular composite was used as a banner for the 2019 Aces. Composites can be done for all kinds of purposes, for team pictures or individual shots.
